Last Call for Mikisew Trip!!

...in response to Q's from member R.C. >>

Yes, the trip details are still being 'refined', as we are still awaiting/hoping for any 'last-minute-sign-ups' for this fun trip.

It may end up being a 'smaller group' than originally expected, and therefore I did not reserve the large Group Camping site, and we will likely not be needing the big school bus - but that's okay, RIDES will be arranged)

I'm now planning to book our campsite(s) online by Thursday (as required).

The two Mikisew Park 'numbered sites' I'm looking at are #322 & #324.

- so anyone booking a site on their own, should try to get a site nearby #322 & #324

"What are we going to do about providing meals and camping equipment?"

Meals:

Campers will be responsible for their own food/meals, with the idea of coordinating a 'potluck/BBQ' on Saturday evening, and perhaps coordinated group Breaky/Brunch Sat & Sun.

Equipment:

Campers will be responsible for their own camping gear* BUT,

 * There is also a limited number of 'first-come'-'claim-a-bed' options as outlined here:

GUYS - I will be bringing my 'pop-up' tent trailer (it can sleep 4-6 people) - I would like to offer this unit first - to be shared by 'male' campers (no onboard toilet)

LADIES - I may also bring my large RV (it can sleep 6-8 people) to be shared by 'female' campers (it has onboard toilet)

Anyone wishing to 'claim-a-bed' - please contact me directly asap - busdriverken@gmail.com

"Does the provincial park have a lodge, motel or Bed & Breakfast Place that has a restaurant with dine inn either a snack bar, cafe included nearby the campgrounds?"

Mikisew Park does not have a Store or Restaurant.

There is however a well stocked Country Store just a half hour walk (2km N/E) from the park (you can also get to this store by boat, if you have one ;o)

The town of South River is a 20 minute drive if we need anything beyond what we should have packed ;o)

"Is there a fire pit where all of us could roast wieners, potatoes and marshmallows?"

Yes there will be a fire pit, - roasta marshmallows/wieners optional. Firewood MUST be purchased at the Park.

"How about a hibachi grill for barbecuing hamburgers or hotdogs outside?"

We will definitely arrange to have a cooking grill available... Propane Fuelled or Over Fire Pit

"Could we stop at a restaurant to get something to eat on the way to the campsite?"

Yes, all Carpooling Travelers will make a quick stop at the Walmart Huntsville Supercentre/McDonald's (hopefully arriving there about 9:30pm).The drive to Mikisew is about 1hr beyond that.

Any Questions, offers of planning, set-up assistance, transportation needs/offers, ideas of timing, - from anyone/anywhere - greatly appreciated!
