Membership starts with dialogue.

We need to get to know each other a little bit, to make sure we're on the same page.  If you have read through the site up to this point, it will be easy to work together.  Don't hesitate to ask questions through our Contact form, and the CommuniKindred team will respond to you as soon as possible.

The foundation of this project is the CommuniKindred Co-operative.  As a member, you have the right to vote on decisions made by the co-operative, which would affect how we use our resources, and selecting who will represent us in leadership, while protecting all the members legally and financially, and holding us all to code of conduct and responsibility.  Being a member means being a good neighbour.  Some people believe that good fences make good neighbours, and others would rather have a neighbour drop over with cookies for a chat.  People have varying needs, and they can all be satisfied within the collective agreement.

The property as a whole is owned by the Membership of the co-operative, and as a member you have certain rights, such as exclusive use of your acreage/plot.  You have the right to privacy on that plot, and to use it within the limitations of the co-operative bylaws, which will be considered and created by all of us.  You have the right to pass on your plot and your house to the next generation, or sell it to a new member approved by the co-operative, or even to sell it back to the cooperative if the cooperative agrees to buy it from you.  In essence, it is like a condo, but with comparatively limitless freedom, and the possibility of changing the rules if it is commonly agreed upon, through the consensus protocol.

Minimum Individual Member Investment is $5,000 ~Equating to Private Use of a one Half-Acre plot (1 unit)

Maximum Individual Member Investment is $15,000 ~Equating to total of 1.5 acres per individual member (3 units)

Your purchased plot(s) will remain yours for the life of the community, and are yours to pass on to future generations, or can be sold along with your membership to a new member, or back to the co-operative at your discretion at any time with consideration given to the current by-laws of the day. Your Membership ‘investment’ will give you all the benefits of the ‘co-owned-commons’ and ‘infrastructure’ as we develop these together.

All membership applicants are required to read, understand, and sign the Eco-bylaws and Governance Protocol as a prerequisite to membership. Each 'membership' with all it's 'entitlements', 'rights', 'obligations', and 'responsibilities' is solely owned by one (1) individual (not a family).  Memberships for Spouses/Partners, their adult children, as well as any additional persons such as extended family members, friends, relatives, (being over the age of eighteen) who wish to share in any property 'ownership' or 'use-in-common' on a designated parcel acreage with any member, will be subject to individual membership approval.   Family Size: the total number of persons sharing any acreage, or combination of 'plots' will have limitations according to varying factors to be outlined in the By-Laws. The writing of these formal agreements/by-laws are in draft pending final reading/ adoption as 'policy' by the community at large.
